EU: Greece and Italy are the first countries within the Eurozone to have made the transition from Democratic to Technocratic Governments ostensibly to assist in stabilizing the economies. The placement of Lucas Papademos as the Greek Prime Minister and Mario Monti as the Italian Prime Minister went ahead without democratic consultation but both were considered to be appropriate for the job due to their backgrounds as economists.
